Our Commitment to Privacy:

Good Roads/Ontario Good Roads Association is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its members, employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders. This Privacy Policy documents our ongoing commitment to privacy and has been developed in compliance with applicable privacy legislation.

Good Roads complies with Canada’s federal privacy legislation, the Personal Information Protection and Electronics Documents Act (PIPEDA) in the handling of your personal information and the personal information of our employees.

This policy generally explains how we handle personal information about individuals outside of Good Roads.

Purpose

During the course of our various programs and activities, Good Roads/OGRA may gather and use personal information. Anyone from whom we collect such information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use of, or other dealing with, this information is subject to consent.

What is personal information?

Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify, or contact a specific individual. Exceptions: business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and contact details as published in publicly-available directories, are not considered personal information.

Where Good Roads/OGRA members, employees, volunteers, or other stakeholders use their home contact information as business contact information, Good Roads/OGRA considers that the contact information provided is business contact information and is not therefore subject to protection as personal information.

Cookies/analytics

Our site uses analytics and marketing cookies to help gather generic login information and user data. Google Analytics uses persistent cookies to track visitor sessions, visitors across multiple sessions, and referral sources to our sites. We also track the performance of promotional links to our site using Google Analytics. In compliance with the Google Analytics Terms of Service, at no time is personally identifiable information (PII) passed to Google Analytics. Note that Google Analytics stores its data within the United States of America and is subject to US laws. We use this data to understand site performance to serve you better. Those wishing to opt out of Google Analytics data collection should use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Any collection, use, storage, deletion or other use (hereinafter “processing”) of data is solely for the purpose of providing our services. Our services have been designed with the aim of using as little personal data as possible. In this context, “personal data” (hereinafter also referred to as “data”) is understood to mean all individual information about personal or factual circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person (so-called “data subject”).

We only process personal data for as long as is necessary. As soon as the purpose of the data processing is fulfilled, blocking and deletion takes place according to the standards of the deletion concept here, unless legal regulations prevent deletion.

Safeguarding personal information

Good Roads/OGRA protects the personal information in its custody or control by making reasonable security arrangements to prevent unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks.

Good Roads/OGRA will take reasonable steps to ensure that a comparable level of personal information protection is implemented by its suppliers and agents who assist in providing products and services to you.

We may transfer personal information to the Good Roads/OGRA third-party service providers, providing these service providers protect personal information in an equivalent manner and only use personal information in ways that are necessary for the services. In some cases, your personal information may be transferred to countries outside of Canada, including the United States and other foreign jurisdictions, in accordance with applicable law. In the event personal information is transferred to the U.S. or other foreign jurisdictions, it will be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be disclosed to or accessed by the courts, law enforcement and governmental authorities in accordance with those laws.

Please note that confidentiality and security are not assured when information is transmitted through e-mail or other electronic communication. We will not be responsible for any loss or damage as a result of a breach of security and/or confidentiality when you transmit information to us by e-mail or other electronic communication or when we transmit such information by such means at your request.

Photography Consent

On occasion, you may be photographed, video-taped, or audio-taped in connection with Good Roads/Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) activities. As a participant of the Good Roads Conference and other events, you agree that Good Roads/OGRA is the sole owner of all rights in and to the resulting photographs, video footage and recordings, for all purposes related to Good Roads business (both now and in the future). Your name and likeness may be used by Good Roads in advertising and promotional materials. Participants shall receive no compensation or royalties for appearance in any materials.
